I have been quite sick the last few days. It has been pretty good otherwise. L and I saw Home and it is super cute, as expected. Fun aliens, sweet storyline, and a wonderful heart-stopping ending. Other than that I have been alternating between sleeping, hacking, and running my little one to wherever she needs to go.
I have nearly finished my second week on my Coursera class. Not too bad so far. I am really enjoying it. The prof is quite interesting as well. I am behind a bit on my Communications course, but I will catch up the rest of this week. It said right on the weather app that it would be cloudy but rainy all day. So far it has "rained" snow for 3 straight hours, sigh. I was just getting excited about plants and getting a garden this year.
I went to Sports Expo last weekend (performed in it with my daughter) and I was surprised by how much better it could have been, then I find out the organizers are charging a ridiculously large fee to merchant or set up a space, and it all becomes clear to me. I did not think there were that many expo goers, apparently there were around 1000, not bad, but not great either. I have some research to do before I approach the organizers with my ideas to help them maximize this event. It could be so much better. Not as scary as I suspected. If he is correct we have a bit of work to do to get me all lined up, the x-rays looked odd. I wonder how much of this is because of pregnancy? I don't think I had any issues in my back before, my neck yes, back no. They were very nice people and quite welcoming. Not just to me (potential new client) but to all the other clients they were treating as well. They seemed to know their patients well and remembered things they had discussed with them previously, even if it didn't have to do with treatment. Nice place. I have an appointment on Friday to discuss possible treatment. No as expensive as I thought either. The initial visit would have been were it not for the coupon from Sports Expo, but the subsequent visits are fairly reasonable.
So today was quiet. Martial arts today was low-key (stretching and strengthening). But I had a great convo with Sensei regarding his match yesterday and learning some new things at the dojo. I got my groceries done and I let my Spring Fever have free-reign and got a small Hydrangea and a Jasmine plant, they are beautiful and smell amazing! The Hydrangea is a deep beautiful purple. Happy Spring to my Family and me. I checked out Home Depot for a siding glass door doggie door for next winter, I am done opening and closing the door for him to just sniff the outside and stay in, sheesh high maintenance dog.
![]() Saturday was super exciting as we (L and I) got to perform in a martial arts demo at the Niagara Falls Sports Expo. L'lyn did a Bo Kata and I did self-defence. The Expo was interesting, very heavy on the Hockey unsurprisingly. Kids activities (hands-on) were plentiful which was super cool, I think they are missing out on a revenue stream by not having many women's sports or activities represented. The WWE style wrestling match at the end of the event was pretty awesome (it is always more fun when you know the participants). Dan Severn gave a seminar at our dojo the night before the event and it was super interesting and I learned a lot. I was pleased to be able to go. We had house guests that night as well and they were fun to chat with and I was glad to be able to see them this weekend. Sunday was a nice relaxing day, breakfast burritos for morning food and noodles for dinner along with cocoanut macaroons for dessert, very tasty. L and I made her sparkly quilt this afternoon, very quick job. I am still pumped up from the Dan Severn seminar at my dojo! He taught some fantastic stuff to us. He did 1.5 hours with the kids (age 5-13) and about 2 hours with us adults. Awesome stuff, I learned a lot. Tomorrow is our Martial Arts Demo at the Sports Expo at the Scotiabank Centre. I get to do Jujitsu stuff. I love it!
Well, I realized today that I haven’t been writing as often as I had hoped. Though I have to say, the Google drive is a great app. I am a little chagrined however that the drive isn’t all in one, you have to get doc’s, slides, and sheets separately on your handheld device. A little disappointing, but not hard and they don’t take up that much space. On a brighter, more fun note, I just finished week one of my Behavioural Genetics class on Coursera, pretty cool and fairly intense. I will finish week 2 of my communications class tomorrow, that one is quite interesting as well. Tonight is the last practice before the expo, so everything is being boxed up and set so everything will go smoothly. Very exciting
Today was a long day, usually it is our crazy day for having activities (L and I both have them) but since it is March Break neither of us had activities. L and her friend painted some wonderful paintings in the livingroom, I got to catch up on a show, and we had some pretty awesome tacos. A and I played hooky from work and went to see Kingsmen. What a fantastic movie-lots of funny things to catch, great music, and Colin Firth can fight, who knew? The FX were fantastic and the characters were a lot of fun as well. I really liked that the main female and the main male character were friends and never even flirted really, the female helped save the day as part of the team-she didn’t fail and have to be helped, and the fight choreography was amazing. Go see it if you haven’t.
So today was an "out of office" extremely productive day. Not a lot done on work things, but home things are getting taken care of in short order. I will be picking up my darling L from martial arts camp http://ufmaniagara.ca I hope she is as happy this afternoon as she was this morning when I dropped her off. I suspect she will be exhausted. Yay! I have my martial arts class tonight, I have never done the night class as I am usually most availalbe in the mornings, so this will be interesting. I started to learn a kata, and I learned some pop-up armbar techniques, I really like this class. Tomorrow we have a demo practice as we are doing a demo at the NIagara Falls Sports Expo this weekend. http://www.nfsportsexpo.com
We are having St. Patrick's Week for dinner this week. It should be fun. Coddle tonight, salmon in puff pastry Tuesday, etc. I am looking forward to finding fun recipes and seeing how they taste. I like doing theme weeks with the menu here it is so much fun to search around for fun dishes to try. Sometimes they become favourites and we start eating them regularly. We had a lazy morning start. I am looking for Site Rental Agreement Templates so I can make sure we have a problem free event this autumn. I am coordinating a “Medieval Day in the Country” event and it is going to be great. So far there is going to be a preservation feast, fencing, armoured combat, archery, thrown weapons, and an arts and sciences competition. So cool! The event site is amazing; I cannot wait to start decorating. There is a lot of planning and prep to do yet, so I am glad we have all summer, but I am really excited about the whole thing. We are getting ready to go to the meeting and then to see Cinderella. This is shaping up to be a wonderful day.
